Hi Danny, thanks for the update, will let Peter know

Hi Norrie,
Well I'm delighted to say that I have received my copy of the Gorbals in the 70's and what great job that Peter Mortimer and Duncan McCallum have done, granted most of the photos have been seen before but there are others that are new to me. It is very well laid out and has explanitory notes with each photo and a lot of the info given I never knew before , that is a very good sign of deep research. It's great to have these photos in the one book now and along side "The Gorbals an Ilustrated History" we have two great books that take us back to visit the soo-side of yesteryears . Well done to Peter and Duncan again :) .
Regards.
Danny :)

Hi Norrie went into Waterstones (Argyle St.) this morning to buy that book for my brothers Christmas the guy didn't know what I was talking about felt like a clown, I told him that it was just out about a month ago but he said no books about the Gorbals came in told me to go back and get the authors name but I'll not be going back there again couldn't have needed my money. I'll try the Sauchiehall St. shop of go onto Amazon
Cheers Amelia

Hi Amelia,
I think if you were wanting to buy the book you're best bet is to go online to Amazon and order it, probably because it is just a new publication that's why the assistant couldn't place it offhand but what he should have done there and then Amelia was to go on the stores computer/laptop and check it out. Looks like he couldn't have been bothered to look up for you, I hate it when that happens.
Regards.
Danny :)

Hi Amelia, take your business to Amazon as Danny suggests
I am not sure if the book has reached the book stores as yet but they should know it on its way, not helpful is not the words I would use
Book is worth waiting for

Hi Norrie had a wee peek at the book I brought my brother for his Christmas it was great but I was up in Castlemilk in the 70's there were no Cash/Carrys when I left. I will be sending for one for myself after going through it. The guys made a grand job of it so will you let them know and I saw your name is that your 15mins of fame

Even the cover of it was great I thought it would be wee flimsy cover even my sister said it was great for the money.

In the 50/70's you never saw anyone going about with a camera infact could we have afforded one? My cousins man had one though but I think his parents had a wee bit of money.
anyway thanks again for letting us know about the book my brother will be delighted when Santa brings it to him :D

Hi amelia, glad you liked the book
I have had my name on several books since The Gorbals an Illustrated History was published

I wish I had a camera years ago, well actually I did have a wee Instamatic but it was for holiday shots, wish I had thought to take areas being demolished
Its no bother now, I have photographed the old Goldbergs and the Odeon being demolished, now I am doing the new office block on the Odeon site
Digital cameras are great, wish they had been out years ago, but then PCs were not on the go
What comes first, the chicken or the egg :D
