Can anyone give me any information of my grandad Luke Gallacher of Gorbals Street, he was an actor in the Empire Theatre Glasgow? His act was Luke Stan and Andy or it went with the name Pop White and Swagger. If anyone does have any information I would be so grateful if you could pass it on to me, as I have been searching for months and still no trace thanks.

Does anyone remember the Devine Family - Bernard left Glasgow probably in the late 1930's. He was brother of John, Joseph, James and son of James and Jane (Thompson). I'm sure there must be family still in Glasgow - my mum mentioned a Davina (a maiden aunt I think), also a Martin Devine (because he shares a name with his cousin, my brother). Old addresses were Anderson St, Beith St. If anyone has any information I'd love to hear from them. Thanks

My great uncle William Farrell was a Music Hall Artist in the Gorbals in 1910. He lived at 138 South Wellington Street. Does anyone have any info on William or his daughter Helen Farrell, who was born in 1910 in Hutchesontown. I am looking for any information on the Farrell family to complete my family tree.

The Todd family. Trying to find any info on the Todd family who stayed at 71 Florence St in the late 30's and 40's. Joseph and Anne Todd had 4 sons, James, John, Thomas and Joseph Jnr. Sadly John died aged 10 soon after they moved to the Carntyne area in the 1950's. Looking to find the brothers of Joseph Snr especially William "Scroggi "Todd who was apparently known as a safe blower during the 40's. Any info would be grateful.

Do people know that you can enter the street names of where you lived in Friends Reunited, and what year you were there, you can add as many streets as you like and maybe find someone else from that street registered there! Also, a good website is http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/history/s ... index.html. There you can look up old Glasgow theatre's and family living in days gone by.. It's quite amusing actually. Good luck anyone looking for someone!

We were poor as almost all the Gorbals people where. We lived in Thistle St, Hospital St and Cumberland Place. I remember cinema's like the Palace and the Greens and marvellous spots like Gorbals Cross and believe me, the world has never had anything to compare with it. I'm proud to have been just a little part of that community . My mum was Marion Lynch. I remember nan and the Moscadini (spelling could be wrong) family. 1950's..John Flynn

I was born at 34 Sandiefield St in 1918, which makes me middleaged. Wee Murrin lived in the close and kept the shop next to St Francis school. The Paddens lived 2 stairs up middle door, the O'Haras and the Hislops 1 up old 'Candy' Hislop was a bookie, his son in law Johnny McGarry was the edge-up man in the close. My brothers and I were all called 'Raff' in these days. My mother died when she was only 33 and my granny took 5 of us to her house up the pawn close in Naburn St next to Kidston St, then we moved to Hospital St. I married Helen Keating who lived at 200 Waddell St, the post office close. Someone was asking about the Dunnions, I can remember them they were a big family, I used to see them walking up Sandyfauld St next to St Francis, Anna used to be friends with Cathy Reynolds. At school I was pals with Joseph Campbell whose older brother Jim was flyweight champion. I can also remember Daniel Cronin. Benny Lynch was coming to the fore then, and also Johnny McGrory and his brother Tim. I stayed at 161 Moffat St after marriage, the corner of Hayfield St. I used to go to Dirty Maggies for old Readers Digests, I can remember buying a fish supper in greasy Peters for twopence when we were in our teens. Does anyone remember Tommy Fitzpatrick and the Campbells from the 'Stickers' or wee Scragowich of the 'bee hive'?

Does anyone remember my family, Bradley's? We lived at 740 Rutherglen Road, across from Richmond Park around 1965? Moved away then came back to 39 Polmadie Road around 1972-3? I went to Bonaventure's primary school. I remember the 'gas scares' from the BOC plant, the Moll's Mire pub at the corner of Polmadie Road and Roseberry Street, the hurricane of 1969, the noise from Dixons Blazes at night, when David Cassidy played a gig at Shawfield and going to 'the shows' (Carnival) over on the Glasgow Green. Excellent site! I love reading everyones memories!
