Does anyone remember the family Sokolov? They stayed in 16 Salsbury St. Wattie, Stella, Mary, Lena, Henry, Olga and John. Lena is the only one still living. I married Henry the youngest son who died 12 years ago. If anyone remembers the family, I would like to hear from them. Also, does anyone remember Father O'Brian also from Salsbury St, he was one of the characters, lots of good folk stayed there. Lots of good memories!

My Grandparents Robt (Robinson) Moore & Agnes Fraser were married at 284 South York St (now Moffat St) in 1879. Agnes was born in Glasgow Robt in Edinburgh. Agnes's father was James Fraser, his occupation was Primary Mill Engine Keeper and I think he may have worked in Dixon Blazes or similar. Any information or assistance would be appreciated. Many thanks.

I left Glasgow in the early sixties, joining the army and moving away returning occasionally for family occasions, such as births, marriages and sadly deaths. I would dearly like to hear from anyone who remembers me from those days for good or bad! To see how the individuals who cascaded out of Glasgow in that time have made their way in the world. Looking forward to hearing from you!

To Colin McFarlane in Wales. I well remember the Gorbals baths. In about '48 I won my elementary swimming certificate which at the time was a free pass to the Glasgow baths of your choice. I chose the Gorbals since I lived on Rutherglen Rd and used to go there often twice a day. I well remember those changing cubicles round the pool, and the tubs we sat at splashing water on ourselves.

Anyone with any info, my mum would be really impressed! She was born in 1935 in Oatlands as Helen (Ellen) Boyd. She had two sisters, May, Peggy and a brother Robert. She recalls the Gorbals with great affection but 'defected' to Paisley in 1963 when she married my dad. Its their 40th anniversary this year. Memories of that time would be wonderful. Please email me if any of those names are familiar!

I am the last surviving Fogell of Fogell's Bakery. I don't know Katherine Hirst and am curious as to who her grandparents were. My paternal grandparents were Philip and Etta Fogell. My father had moved to London from Giffnock to follow a career in music so when my grandfather died, my aunt (Alaine Fogell) ran the shop with Etta until it closed for the Gorbals redevelopment: they couldn't face the relocation and my grandmother was becoming less able to cope. Philip's brother Connie was a delivery driver for a while until he and his family emigrated to South Africa: they are now in Perth Australia. Alaine's daughter Phyla is married and still living in Glasgow. Alaine passed away a couple of years ago.

Re: Fogells the Bakery
I am the Granddaughter of the late Phillip and Etta Fogell. My late mother was Alaine Fogell, as I am aware she did the "books" for the business. I think there is/was a brother of Philip Connie? My grandparents also had a son Martin who has 2 children - Glynn in S/A and Janice in Kent. Anne their mother also lives near Janice. Who are you related to? Please email.

Anyone remember Kean's sweetie shop at the top of Hospital Street facing the weighing machine, penny vantis or a single woonbie and a match? This was my aunt's shop - would love to hear from anyone that can remember that far back.
